Bullock County offers some of the best hunting in the nation, including nationally- ranked hunting lodges. Big bucks (whitetail deer) and wild turkey abound--there are more than 30 deer per square mile in Bullock County! 

You may also be surprised to learn that Bullock County is one of the few places in the south that boasts an active fox hunting community. In fact, Fitzpatrick, in northwest Bullock County (about 15 minutes from Union Springs), is considered by many fox hunters to be the best fox hunting country in the United States! Fox hunting has evolved beyond hunting and has become an elegant sport of horses and hounds.

Fishing is also a popular pastime. The area offers many fine fishing lakes and streams. that have produced record catches of bass, bream and catfish!

The Wehle Nature Center, a hidden jewel located in easternmost Bullock County, is a facility designed to promote and foster educational opportunities pertaining to conservation in Alabama. It offers fishing, camping, and riding trails (you must furnish your own horse).
